CapCut Tutorial: Learn to Import, Trim, Cut, and Split Videos Like a Pro

In the previous article, we learned what editing is, why we should use CapCut, what CapCut is, and how to download CapCut. First Article Here! Now let’s continue.

Hello, how are you! I’m happy that you’re getting something to understand and learn from this website. Today is our second article, and in this one, you’ll read about how we can import videos in CapCut, how to understand the timeline, how you can split and cut video clips, and all related things.

First, we will learn how to import a video into CapCut.
To import a video, first you have to go into CapCut and click on Create New Project. Then a window will appear. On the top left side, it will say Media — you need to click on that. Then click on Import. After that, your PC/laptop window will open. From there, select the video file or image you want to use in your editing, click on it, and then click Open. That file will now appear in your Media folder.

Now, the video or image you want to edit will have a plus icon (+) on it — click on that, and the file will drop down into the timeline. This is how you can import and start editing your video.

Second, we’ll learn how to cut or split a clip.
For this, you’ll see a toolbar right above the timeline. This bar is very helpful in editing. For example, let’s say you have a single clip, but you want to break it into separate parts — for this, you’ll use the Split or Cut tool.

You need to first select the video file on the timeline. Then, you’ll see a Split icon — click on it (you can also see it in the image below). This will divide your clip into two parts.

There is another tool here called Marker. When you hover your mouse cursor over it, the word Marker will appear. The purpose of the Marker is to highlight specific points in your video. While editing, sometimes there are video parts that are not good — so we need to delete them. What we do is play the full video and mark the parts that need to be removed using the Marker. After marking all, we can delete them together.

To delete a clip, select the clip you want to delete, right-click on it, and then click Delete from the options.

That’s all for today’s article. If you don’t understand something, you can also watch it on YouTube. There you’ll find everything explained with voice and practical demo — go watch it. And make sure to sign up on the website so you can get the new articles first and keep learning.

Thank you so much! 😊
